The Afterglow Yogic Sleep Podcast
Welcome to Afterglow — a platform for Yoga Nidra informed by the concepts of Carl Jung and Internal Family Systems. This podcast is a space for you to discover the richness of your inner world and to find comfort in the face of life’s many changes.
My name is Ella. I am a qualified Yoga Nidra teacher and I created this space to offer an accessible resource to all who are seeking some inner light and who are looking for tools to deepen their experience of joy and resilience in life.
Together we will add more light and more whole-heartedness to the world as we gain increased insight into who we are and how we move through our lives. Join me and occasional guests as we discover hidden depths and supreme joys.
May the afterglow be as bright as the journey is deep.
Each week we will work on a different theme as I guide you through your internal landscape during a Yoga Nidra podcast episode. This gentle, meditation-like practice is a way to discover deep relaxation and build a habit of inner work.
Before I share each week’s Yoga Nidra episode, I will upload a special companion episode in which I will discuss psychoanalytical concepts and applications, and offer you prompts to prepare you for the Yoga Nidra practice to come.
Themes to expect — I move through a rhythm of: — forward reaching Nidras that let you reflect, prepare, dream, create; — healing Nidras that cover specific concerns such as nervous-system resets, bereavement, chronic illnesses, miscarriages, and depression; — curiosity episodes that give you the opportunity to play with no outcome in mind; and — inner child check-ins as this is a vital and under-addressed element of inner work.
Yoga for the Inner World.
“You do not need to leave your room. Remain sitting at your table and listen. Do not even listen, simply wait, be quiet, still and solitary. The world will freely offer itself to you to be unmasked, it has no choice, it will roll in ecstasy at your feet.”
―Franz Kafka

Episode 8 — Quitting Smoking
The breath that we welcome into our bodies gets absorbed into our blood, into our organs. This week is all about quitting smoking or vaping, giving you support through Yoga Nidra to help you move into a space where you can comfortably exist without nicotine. Episode 7 — Anxiety Anchor
There is no underestimating the importance of having an anchor when you are in the throws of a panic attack or experiencing persistent anxiety. Episode 6 — Chemotherapy and Cancer
Through the uncertainty and fatigue of chemotherapy, I offer this Yoga Nidra as an internal space that you can keep returning to, a place where your body and mind are in full health. May this Yoga Nidra support your mind through the darkest of moments, connecting you to a deeper part of yourself.
Episode 5 — Art and Sublimation
Art, whether a painting or a song, made not for the audience but for the artist, gives us the opportunity to transform internal tension into something profound and personal. In this episode I will discuss Carl Jung and Hermann Hesse’s call that we engage with this essential instinct to create as a way of knowing ourselves.
Episode 4 — Meeting the Inner Child
Integrating the inner child is one of the most important practices of inner work, helping bring all parts of ourselves from our childhoods into a safe and living space of connection and self nurture. This week I teach you to find daily interactions with the inner child, and with them comes, playfulness, creativity, and intuition.
Episode 3 — The Nervous System
Connect with your Nervous System this week through the Afterglow Body Appreciation practice. Your nervous system contends everyday with personal and collective pressures. This practice will help you integrate compassion for your nervous system, leaving you in an abiding state of calm.
Episode 2 — Jonah and the Whale
The Jonah and the Whale story is much more than an imaginative adventure, it is a Jungian's dream.
